This might be a touchy subject for some people since what will be talked about is pretty subjective. I wanted to take a moment away from the busy buzz of life we are all trapped in and ask that is you are reading this, get in a calm and focused mindset.
I want to talk about getting outside of ourselves. I want it to be clear that my choice of words was careful, I say "ourselves" because I am aware that I am just as much of a subject in this as anyone else. It would be difficult to get on a social media outlet without seeing a message about finding yourself or something to do with "soul searching". While these messages are not innately negative it is easy to take these saying and apply them to real life in extreme ways. This is a trend I have noticed in my personal life and as such I am aware that my experiences are different from others so this may not be an issue to some. I also want to be clear that the points and ideas I am about to present are consciously subjective and do not apply to every single human being.
Living outside of yourself, selflessness, active empathy, compassion, and conscious concern for another. These virtues are still valued today, as can be seen in songs, movies, and books that are widely enjoyed. However, life is not a movie and a busy life leaves little room for us to be less self-aware and more actively being empathetic. This condition of only living in our own minds and not thinking of the conditions of others is not an issue that has an objective source for blame or root. So we must look at this idea of living outside of ourselves not as a targeted correction but as something that I hope we will all take into consideration to better our fellow man.
This article has not definite conclusion because this topic doesn't have a definite answer. Let's make an effort to look at our neighbor's life, not to envy or judge, but to see what we can do to better them.
