The revolutionary sci-fi television series and movie blockbuster Star Trek, lost its iconic character, Spock, last Friday morning. At the end stage of chronic pulmonary disease, the first officer of the Starship Enterprise, passed away in his home in Las Angeles.
Leonard Nimoy brought the essence of Star Trek to life through his Vulcan character. Nimoy’s connection to his character was so strong that he once said, “Spock is definitely one of my best friends. When I put on those ears, it's not like just another day. When I become Spock, that day becomes something special.” A tragic day for devoted Trekkies, Nimony is not only remembered for his signature Vulcan, pointy-eared Spock, but for his photography, poetry, and music.
A Leonard Nimoy poem, I may not be, written in 1931.
I may not be
I may not be the fastest
I may not be the tallest
Or the strongest
I may not be the best
Or the brightest
But one thing I can do better
Than anyone else...
That is
To be me
Below are some of Nimoy's photographs:
And finally, some quotes:

- "Change is the essential process of all existence."
- "I think it's my adventure, my trip, my journey, and I guess my attitude is, let the chips fall where they may."
- "History is replete with turning points. You must have faith that the universe will unfold as it should."
- "Each of us at some point in our lives turns to someone, a father, a brother, a God, and asks why am I here? What was I meant to be?"
- "There is no reason that function should not be beautiful—in fact beauty usually makes it more effective."
