Live Like You Were Dying is a country song by Tim McGraw that is not only one of my favorite songs but also a song that I think that many people ought to listen to. It’s a song that talks about finding out that a man does not have much time left to live and instead of feeling down about it, he decided that in his last moments of life, he was going to live it up as much as he possibly could.
This song doesn’t also have to resonate with a person who is necessarily dying, living like you are dying is something that we should all strive to do. It’s something that we all need to do. Life is a game and it ought to be played to the best of our potential. Never live your life saying, “I wish I did that,” rather live your life by being able to say, “I did that.” To quote Wayne Gretzky, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” That quote is 100% correct because if you have a goal in mind, if you have an idea in place, whatever the case may be, shoot for it. Whatever it is that you want to do in this life, base every decision from here on out after that goal. Of course have some side goals to accomplish as well to keep life interesting. Shooters shoot my friend. Even if you miss, get rejected, put down, whatever, at least you can say, “I tried.” You’ll regret trying, but you’ll always regret not to. Rejection, for me, is a scary thing. It is one of my biggest fears and probably almost every single person’s biggest fear.
In any event, in order to Live Like You Were Dying, all you have to do is do stuff that you want to do later, now. If you want to go bungee jumping, sky diving, running with the bulls, whatever your heart desires, go do it. Do not let anything stop you from living the life you want to live. Like I said, life is a game and the best way to play it, like any game, is to give it all you’ve got and you can never lose.
I live life every single day to my fullest potential I can live it. Always up for new adventures and new ideas. That's the key to live. Always be ready to adapt into any situation. It's not all that scary to take a risk. Sometimes, all you need to do is take that little leap of faith.
