Baby sis,

Wow, I don't even know how to start a letter telling you how much you mean to me, and how much you've taught me just by being my little sister. In your 16 years on this earth, you have grown to be my rock, my light, and my best friend. Here's a small sampling of all of the things that you have taught me.

1. You taught me to be a role model.

You were the first person that ever looked up to me, and this has helped me to become a better and more faithful person.

2. You helped me to deepen my faith.

Watching you grow in your spiritual life has inspired me and helped me to also grow stronger in my connection with God. This is something that means the world to me, and I cannot thank you enough for this.

3. You taught me to share.

Because of you, I have learned to be OK with letting others use my things, including my room, clothes, shoes, and car. I have never minded letting you borrow anything, because it shows me that I actually have good taste.

4. You taught me to laugh.

Not just giggle, but a full-out belly laugh. When I'm with you, I never fail to laugh until I start crying or until water shoots out of my nose.

5. You taught me to have inside jokes.

You and I laugh at so many different things that most people just don't understand. I love when we make an inside joke and glance at the other and bust out laughing. These are the moments that I treasure the most, because I feel so connected to you.

6. You taught me what unconditional love feels like.

When tragedy struck, I would have given anything to be put in your place just to take your pain away. I never realized the full extent of my love for you until that moment, and now I never forget to give you a bear hug, and tell you that I love you before I leave.

7. You taught me to be protective.

Since becoming a big sister, I've felt the need to protect you. I will never hesitate to go Mama Bear on anyone that tries to hurt my baby sis in any way.

8. You taught me about perseverance.

I have always believed that the little sister is usually the tougher and more persistent one. Your strong will and determination has rubbed off on me and made me stronger.

9. You taught me to never hide my sassy side.

In recent years, you have fully revealed to me and the world that you are an extremely sassy human being, and I love this about you. You never hesitate to tell me how it is, and you've allowed me to even become more sassy and straight-forward.

10. You taught me that it's OK to ugly cry.

I've always been jealous of people who are able to cry and make it look beautiful, because you and I definitely do not have that quality. You're the best because you never let me ugly cry alone.

11. You have taught me to love more in general.

You are one of the least judgmental people I know. Your authentic love for your life and all life inspires me every single day. This is probably the best thing that you could have ever taught me. I love you so much, little sis, and I always will.

Love,
your big sis

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
