Lipstick Speaks Louder Than Words

I am the lipstick

The one who feathers

For no lip liner shall contain

My pure pigments

Nor hide my true colors

Which are

Nude, Plum, Pink, Red—

No. I’m all these and more

All the shades in between:

Creamy Beige = Wild/Free/Vulnerable

Sunset Coral = Vibrant/Energetic

Pearly Pink = Flirty/Girly

Hot Pink = Playful/Giddy

Rosy Berry = Romantic/Elegant

Bright Red = Daring/Confident

Intense Black Cherry = Kinky/Sexy

Dark Plum = Bold/Mysterious

Matter-of-Fact Black = Tough/Devious

As my color smears the face of life

I remind myself

That while I may make smudges and

Sometimes color outside the lines

I always clean up later

And once my flaws are wiped away

My mistakes a distant memory

All that will be left is my smile

One that needs improvement…

Let me go grab some lipstick!
