As you may know, the 2018 Winter Olympics surpassed the team count for the 2014 Sochi Games Olympics, which had a maximum count of 222 participants. With the 2018 Olympics gearing up for the best event ever, 242 athletes have been selected, making it the decade's most universally diverse and competent match for minorities.
This year marks a startling new change: the new athletes join team members and become the first Americans to set foot on snow and skate on ice in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
However, some startling oppositions to Trump's presidency may never quiet down, even in a year where people are bombarded with a Republican government. Lindsey Vonn, a US skier, spoke out against what she had to say about Trump.
She told CNN news that she "hopes to represent the people of the United States, not the president."
Lindsey feels that politics is a gone case and that she has the right to represent her team for the United States as she tries to compete for a second Olympic gold medal in South Korea. She persisted to break the record of 86 World Cup victories summoned hereafter the last win of Ingemar Stenmark in 1989.
Lindsey represents the many countless different humans from various cultures, shapes, sizes, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and other views within the United States. These suppressed groups have struggled to seize the trophy of discrimination from Trump.
That being said, Trump has been an advocate for igniting tension and pressure within suppressed groups and for them to rise up and publicly held rallies for their rights. Additionally, Trump is known for creating havoc for immigrants through DACA, causing issues for women just like Vonn, African Americans, other minority groups, and the LGTBQ community.
Trump has been converting our country into a political and social mess. Personally speaking, I'm proud Lindsey stood up for her own rights. She is honestly the perfect example of a prodigy our society needs today to represent our government and the states.
