The King of too many songs on an album returns for his second studio album Lil Boat 2. Miles McCollum (AKA Lil Yachty) recently released this album which features many different artists, like Trippie Redd, Lil Pump, and Quavo. Lil Yachty is known for being one of the goofiest rappers within the past decade, and his lyrics represent that in numerous songs on this album.
There are a bunch of great songs off of this album, which portrays Yachty in a somewhat darker light. As a follow up to “Teenage Emotions,” “Lil Boat 2” shows a darker side to this happy, goofy artist. This album is filled with a variety of different sounds to it. This includes ballads and a hard 808 bass.
I was super happy to hear the “Ch-Ch-Charlie Shuffler” introduction in the first song, “SELF MADE” because I have been a huge fan of his work since I heard Castels II by SoundCloud artists Lil Tracy and Lil Peep. This song is a pretty good introduction song which basically explains how the artist has built himself up, by himself.
The next song, “BOOM!” which features Ugly God is one of the best tracks on this album because it is very well produced. The ‘yuhs’ get the person pumped, and the lyrics are super easy to follow. The best part is the little adlibs during the chorus, “Lil b**** got a fat a**! (A**!)”
The third track, “OOPS” features 2 Chains and K$upreme and it bangs. The song is not over the top, and the introduction features Yachty rapping quick verses, which were impressive. This funny song also has a wicked catchy chorus.
“TALK TO ME NICE” features Quavo from Migos and the song represents Migos’ musical style, which is boring because their sound gets redundant after a while.
This album has so many songs, but at a whopping 45 minutes, it’s a pretty quick listen. There are a couple tracks on this album that definitely could have been left out.
Overall this album receives a 7 out of 10 because of the other side of Lil Yachty we get to see on this album. I would only buy this on vinyl if the record's colors matched the album artwork.
