The other day at work a co-worker asked me a question. Not an unusual question just a normal question anyone getting to know someone would ask. He asked me what my favorite type of music is. Without hesitation I reply "Rap" This 60 year old mans eyes open wide and he laughs. I gave him a weird smirk for I was confused why he was laughing.

"I was expecting you to say classic rock or country." he said giggling.

"Well I like all types of music including country, but my favorite has to be rap. Hands down." I responded.

I understand the mans confusion. Look at me. I am a white, jewish, 20 year old from Great Neck, Long Island which has a reputation for being a very good town with a high jewish population and extremely low crime rate. I did not have that hard of a life growing up. Do I look like a gangster? No. Do I look like someone that is ready to " Pop a cap in someones ass"? Negatory. So why would someone like me like the music of rap so much?

Ever since I started to really listen to music and enjoy it, Rap always fascinated me. From the fast wording to the lyrical genius of the music I was hooked right away. The beats were things I couldn't get out of my head. I would try to create lyrics up on my own but I was never as good as the professionals. I could rap all of "The Real Slim Shady" without batting an eyelash. But There were never really rappers I could relate to. Eminem was the closest one and it was solely becasue of the color of his skin.

Along came David Burd (A.K.A Lil' Dicky). This white, jewish boy from a well to do suburb right outside of Philadelphia has a plan. He plans to change the rap game for the better.

In his song "Professional Rapper" he discusses his plan on how to change the game with one of the biggest names in rap, Snoop Dogg. He tells the "Dogfather" about where he grew up, the struggles he faced, and how he wants to change the game. His struggles weren't what Snoop or other rappers have gone thru but something more relatable to me. The place I grew up, the people I surround myself with. This was very cool to me becasue never in this type of music has there been someone that I can relate to as much as Lil Dicky.

This "nutty abundantly funny" rapper has already made a name for himself landing commercials with his song "$ave Dat Money" featured in the commercials. The song has been featured in commercials for Old Navy and burger chain restaurant Carl's Jr.

David Burd is paving the way for a new era of rap. A new group of people that will be coming forward and bringing forth a wider audience for this type of music. So get ready world. Its Lil Dicky's time to shine.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
