7 Reasons Why I Believe In You
Olivia Dahlstrom

I know you feel a little broken and I know you feel a little lost. You’ve been through a lot this year and life as you known it has changed multiple times in just the past six months. I’m not here to tell you what you already know. I’m here to tell you everything you don’t.

You are not broken.

You are beautiful and nothing about you is wrong. The battles you have fought may have left you with some cuts and bruises but you have taken it all with elegance and poise. You have kept going despite it all. You’re an inspiration to not only me but to everyone who knows your story. You have not been destroyed but rather chiseled into a magnificent masterpiece that people gaze at in awe and wonder. Nothing about you is damaged. You are not broken.

You are a survivor.

Every day you wake up with purpose behind your step and meaning lacing every word you speak. You’ve taken the pieces of you that have fallen off and repaired them with a golden stream of grace that only a survivor knows how to do. You have given love to anyone in need, guidance to all those who are lost, and hope to everyone you’ve touched. You are here. You are alive. You are a survivor.

You are loved.

My god are you loved. Loved by more people than your mind can comprehend. You may not understand and you probably won’t agree but you are the reason for so many memories, so much laughter, and so much love. You are a blessing that people thank God for every day. A gift that only a select few have gotten to unwrap and experience. You are an incredible soul that so many adore. You are loved

You are worth it.

There is nothing good that you don’t deserve. Your heart is pure and your intentions are good and believe me when I say you are worth it. Every extra step, every phone call, every dinner, every effort – you deserve nothing but good. You are worth it.

You are gorgeous.

No, I’m not talking about the outside. While you are beautiful on the outside, you are gorgeous on the inside. The amount of love you leak out into the world is unimaginable. The respect and empathy you hold for every human you encounter is inspiring. The strength you show is breathtaking but most of all, you heart pounds with good and your soul leaks of grace. You are gorgeous.

You are not alone.

I know it’s not easy and sometimes it doesn’t always seem worth it but I promise that through every moment, good and bad, you have never walked alone. Behind you is an army of people that you have touched, inspired, loved, and changed. People who have seen your heart and have experienced your goodness and know just how precious you are. You are not alone.

I’ve been there too.

Honestly, I’m still there. It’s hard and scary. Nothing about it is fun and every day seems to be different. You barely get a grip on things when another storm arrives. I know it’s hard to catch your breath. I know it’s exhausting and I know that for every good moment there’s 20 bad ones. I know. But I also know you and you are nothing short of incredible. You won’t believe me but I know in my heart that you will get through this. I know that you will be okay. I know that you are a warrior and I know that when you forget all of this, I will always be there to remind you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
