Ever have those moments where your mind/brain begins processing certain things out of proportion? Do you have those constant flashbacks of bad memories coming at you at the moment random and unexpected times/places? Do you overthink/replay certain past events in your mind and start muttering to yourself on things you did/wished you could have said/done if you gotten the chance? Are there moments where you feel self-doubt, self-pity, or just a piece of s***? Most of all, do you have those out-of-the-blue panic/anxiety attacks where your breathing becomes uneasy/unsteady that you end up balling out your tears in the corner for a good five minutes (when in reality it feels like hours) of someone/something (bad memory, critique, stuck in rush hour traffic, etc.) sparking a certain nerve in your system?
Humans are susceptible in feeling an array of emotions. The emotions can sprung out from past, current, and, even, future events. Anger, sadness, happiness, euphoria, conflict, love, etc. There are over a billion emotions and feelings that even the Webster Dictionary can't even formulate into words. In today's society, being sensitive, nowadays, is labeled as "inhumane," "weak," "stupid," or "lame." Everyone is entitled to how they feel, that's a fact in which I am not going to argue with. Figuring out the fine line and self-control of one's mind/mental state, that's a different story.
We all need a little push to get to a certain task or specific turning point in their lives. Whether it is accomplishing certain tasks on a to-do list or just needing to figure things out, anxiety is there to give a conscious kick of what's happening in the present: "the current moment." Whether it is just for the day or for life, anxiety kicks one's booty to the curb. The problem with anxiety, however, is it gets uncontrollable the older you get.
Ever hear that expression flight-or-fight? Well that expression is true and it's a total bitch. In those anxious moments, a loss of control in your emotional and mental state is experienced due to that imaginary pouncing angry tiger coming out from behind. Sometimes you'll start stressing, overthinking, sweating, or shaking convulsively to the breaking point of bawling your eyes out and feeling like a shattered piece of glass crumbling to the floor. That angry pouncing tiger: anxiety's worst enemy.
Anxiety ranges from mild, medium, severe, and fluctuating. It puts us all in a variety of directions. Whether one struggles internally for his/her entire life, under severe conditions, or just trying to make ends meet, anxiety is life's dirty haunted ghost. It can take up the most genuine person to his/her breaking point and can cause that infamous hit-or-miss in life. Whether it is temporary or for life, anxiety is a total bitch. Going back to that saying, flight it or fight it? Fight it. Anxiety shouldn't define who you are. Strength, perseverance, and temperance are your dignities to this everlasting life. Take it to the curb and show them who's boss.
"Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up" -Proverbs 12:25
