I keep waiting for things to fall into place in my life.
I keep waiting for my ex to come to his senses so we can get back together. But news flash it’s been approximately four years since we broke up. Clearly, he has moved on.
I keep waiting for just one sign to appear to give me the slightest idea of what my purpose might be. I’ve been told my entire life, “everyone has a purpose” — but what is mine?
When you’re 18, 19 and even 20 years old, you’re expected to have your entire life together. It seems like everyone around me has it all figured out, while I’m just trying to take it one day at a time.
I just keep waiting for things to happen and maybe that’s the problem.
In order for something to happen, it’s our duty to take charge.
As humans, we like to be able to take control of any circumstance that becomes visible in our life. When we don’t have that power, that’s where the irrational fear becomes present. We allow it to become a roadblock. But that doesn’t mean we should stop living in the fear of not knowing.
That's what makes life so exciting. The unknown. You never know what can happen until you out and experience the world.
It took me a while to understand the phrase “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” I now look at the world as a huge platform to connect with others. There are so many people in the world whom you haven’t had the privilege to meet yet. You can learn a lot by just listening to someone. So many ideas are sprung to life with an extra push from someone that believes in them.
So I stopped waiting.
I stopped waiting for him to come back because I knew he wasn't. I started accepting that new reality. I had to, for me.
I stopped fearing the unknown. If we knew everything that was going to occur in our lives, there's no guarantee that we would be able to handle it.
I stopped waiting for things to happen and went out of my way to make it happen. I started introducing myself and putting myself out there. I started forming genuine bonds and having meaningful conversations with others. I started becoming more like myself.
I started living for me.
And that's the most beautiful thing. It's like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulder.
My advice to you: Open up that business you wanted to start,
Start that blog,
And write that book.
Because life's too short to wait for something to happen.
