Every moment brings new joys, new tears, new laughs, and new fears. You could be standing in the middle of campus, just as you always do, and you stumble upon a building you have never seen before: This sparks curiosity. Once this building is spotted, you begin to spin in circles wondering what else you haven't noticed before. If you hadn't been facing a new direction while standing at that very moment, you never would have noticed the new building or acknowledged the idea that there are many things you haven't seen. And sometimes, instead of buildings, it could be people.
Sometimes life brings you someone you never expected to cross paths with. They're someone you never would have met if it wasn't for a decision you made. If you hadn't applied for that job, gone out to lunch with your friend, or decided to sit in a new seat for one class period, you never would've crossed paths with this person.
This person may be a blessing to your life or a curse, but either way they're a lesson. The blessing or curse may not be determined until later on down the road, but for the time being you can't help but be utterly infatuated with this person. If it's a girl, you may be impressed by the way she stands up straight with a smile on her face, or the way her lips are perfectly glossed, or the clothes she wears or the way her voice sounds. For a moment you want to be her. If it's a guy, you are infatuated with the idea of him. You love the way his eyes light up when he smiles, the way he plays with you as if you're both little kids again, the way he dresses, and even the way he watches out for you like an older brother. But, soon the infatuation with both people fades away and real friendships are found.
Isn't it odd how fate magically causes us to be friends (or enemies)? It's almost as if our lives are books and our stories are already written for us. As a day ends, a page turns. What if no matter where we go or what we do, it's already planned out for us? Our thoughts are merely words on a page and our friends are chosen for us at the beginning of each chapter. Our lives are formed in a story book. But why is this the life I was written?
What was the purpose of this moment?
What is the point of this piece of writing?
What will this friendship bring me?
Why did we meet now?
Every moment is a reflection of the moment before that one. The people in our lives were put there, in the middle of our paths, and they were put there for a reason. Sometimes you'll have a moment of clarity, as rare as a shooting star. You'll wonder where these people in your life came from and you'll wonder where others disappeared to. You'll ponder the "what ifs" based on the direction of your life; what if I didn't work there? What if I hadn't gone to class that day? Every moment in life is significant, no matter how big or how small.
If your life was a book and you had a copy of it in your hand, would you read it?
