Life Lessons I Wish I Knew Sooner

Unfortunately, we often neglect the advice of others leading us to learn things the hard way.

Nothing will always work out the way you had intended, which can be very dissatisfying at first. Life is full of unfortunate events that initially seem detrimental and ultimately impossible to overcome, but let me tell you how untrue that really is.

At first you will feel defeated when everything seems to be falling apart. You will think the odds will always be stacked against you, which can be a dangerous mindset to become stuck in. However, it is extremely important to handle every situation as a learning experience and share that gained knowledge with others.

Lesson 1: Attitude is key.

“Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it.” Charles R. Swindoll

Lesson 2: Learn from your mistakes.

“Remember that life’s greatest lessons are usually learned at the worst times and from the worst mistakes.” - Unknown

Lesson 3: Don’t worry about the past.

“Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.” - Denis Waitley

Lesson 4: Don’t put your happiness in anybody else’s hands.

“Stop planting flowers in people’s yards who aren’t going to water them.” - Unknown

Lesson 5: Always stay humble and kind.

“The hand that gives is superior to the hands that receive. Be grateful for all you have as others pray for what you already have.” - Malika E Nura

Lesson 6: Appreciate the people in your life while they are still there.

“Learn to appreciate everything. It could be minute and mean nothing to you, but it could be the best efforts of another.” - Hermann J Steinherr

Lesson 7: Don’t change for anyone.

“There’s nothing worse than letting people control your life. This is your life. Live it your way.” - Unknown

Through everything life throws at you, remain true to yourself. Enjoy each day to the fullest because you never know how long you truly have to live. Treat every day like a new learning experience because the most important lesson for you might be one you haven’t even learned yet.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
