11 Life Lessons Learned From 'One Tree Hill'
One Tree Hill

I am a basic 20-year-old girl who is in love with “One Tree Hill.” I have spent hours on end binge-watching this television show that has made me cry my eyes out and smile from ear to ear because I have gotten so attached to the characters. It has not only served as a sense of entertainment for me on a rainy day, but it has also taught me valuable lessons that are so significant in this lifetime. OTH is so much more than just a popular teen drama. It is a reminder that life isn’t easy, but it is always possible to keep moving forward. It teaches people about relationships, friendships, and family. Overall, it touches on the most important things to remember throughout life.

1. Sometimes letting go is the best decision you can make.

Peyton Sawyer went through some pretty tough times in her life. She allowed pain to consume her which only led her to darkness. Moving on from her past and accepting her life resulted in her prioritizing her well-being and becoming a better person.

2. Nothing in life surpasses the power of love.

Brooke Davis got a little carried away when her clothing line, Clothes Over Bros, made her a successful and wealthy young woman. When she began to realize that success did not make her the happiest version of herself, she knew that something from her life was missing.

3. Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

When you ask yourself what it is you want in life, the answer is most likely happiness. Nathan Scott taught us that happiness does not come easy, and that it takes time to learn who you are and what you want in order to be content with your life.

4. Giving up is never the answer.

We all have the potential to succeed and become the best possible version of ourselves. When you feel like your world is crumbling down, remember that life is too short and that the opportunities are endless. P Sawyer needed a reminder, maybe you do too.

5. Don't let the opinions of your peers define you.

It isn't easy to ignore what others think of you. It takes exceptional bravery and confidence to see past the judgments and the labels. It wasn't easy for Brooke Davis, but she did it and so can you.

6. True friends are hard to find.

There are many friendships that surface throughout OTH, friendships that last and friendships that cease to exist. The friend that is next to you when times are most difficult is the one that you will want to keep around for the rest of your life.

7. Actions speak louder than words.

There is no doubting that Peyton sparked Lucas' passion for writing. Although their relationship faced some difficult obstacles, Lucas' love and admiration for Peyton stayed shining through his novels. His story outweighed his denial and made an impact, an impact that spoken words could not have achieved.

8. If you don't have any expectations, you will never be disappointed.

People will let you down. People will hurt you. Just don't give others your all until you know with your heart that they are the person that you have them out to be.

9. Never stop believing in your dreams.

What you want in life will always be important. Achieving what your goals and never giving up on what you believe in will make you your happiest self.

10. Always fight for the ones that you love, the ones that give your life meaning and purpose.

Nathan and Haley...enough said.

11. Hold on to the people who make you smile.

Nothing compares to spending time with those who care about you; those who love you and want what is best for you. Those people are the best you will ever find, so never let them go.

I love you, OTH...I always will.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
