Life Lessons From 'Winnie The Pooh'

Who knew a cuddly little bear could give the best advice on life, love, friendship and adventure? The story of "Winnie the Pooh" is a timeless children’s classic that has been treasured for years. A.A. Milne, the author of this book series, based these adorable characters off a real life bear, his son and his son’s stuffed animals. But through all of this, he created some of the most inspirational quotes of all time. "Winnie the Pooh" is actually very philosophical and gives some insightful words of wisdom. Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods can be models for how we can live our own lives in order to achieve great happiness. Here is a look at 12 of the best life lessons from our friend, "Winnie the Pooh."

1. On Friendship

Friendship is one of the greatest things in the world and any day without a friend by your side is the worst day. Always hope to never have any of those days.

2. On Love

3. On Adventure

We come across certain people in our lives and as soon as we meet them we know a grand adventure is about to happen. Cherish and always remember to hold these people close.

4. On Priorities

I definitely think Winnie the Pooh has his priorities set straight.

5. On Acceptance

One of the most important lessons we can learn from Winnie the Pooh is that of acceptance. We should all be open to getting to know one another and open to accepting others for all their differences. We can truly be happier people once we do this.

6. On Remembering

Unfortunately, special people will come and go from our lives. However even when we lose someone we love, we can always remember that they will still be with us. The heart never forgets.

7. On Love Again

When you find "the one" you will know because deep within your soul you will feel it. Love is as simple as that.

8. On Goodbyes

I would give anything to go back in time and relive some of the most amazing memories I have with some very dear people. Goodbyes are literally the worst and I hope we can all go through life with as few goodbyes as possible.

9. On Self-Esteem

Never ever forget these words especially in your darkest of days.

10. On Selflessness

If you love them, you will set them free. True love means putting someone else's happiness before your own. This is sometimes the hardest thing in the world to do, but remember their is beauty to selflessness.

11. On Goodbyes Again

I feel so fortunate to have people in my life that make saying goodbye so hard. We should all feel so lucky that we have these people in our lives and we need to make sure we treasure every single moment we spend together.

12. On Life

All in all, Winnie the Pooh reminds us that life is a beautiful journey we all get to take. So many times we get caught up in the day to day struggles and we forget to stop and smell the roses. We should all make sure we take the time to really enjoy life. Make memories, find love, have friendships and enjoy the beautiful journey that is life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
