During my spring break, I have recently been binge-watching the show, "Shameless," on Netflix. Although, the family doesn't seem like they're like any other family. They are actually quite similar. In addition, I'm only on season three and I've already been emotionally attached to all of these characters and they've taught me some important lessons. Here's a lesson I've learned from each character so far on "Shameless":

1. Fiona.

You can't rely on anyone else to survive. Sometimes you have to put your big girl panties on and deal with stuff on your own. Even during the most difficult times, she has risen up to be resilient. No matter how you were raised or how your life is, you're going to have to be independent and on your own sometimes.

2. Lip.

I've learned a couple things from Lip. The first and the most obvious being, a big mouth can get you in so many different types of trouble. Also, he has taught me to stand up for what you believe in, even if people are not on your side. If your family isn't happy with your decision, they'll be mad, but they still want you there.

3. Ian.

Ian's character tells it how it is, cuts the BS. He stands up for his loved ones and will tell you straight-up if you're being a douche.

4. Debbie.

Debbie has taught me to always be kind to people, especially to those who are struggling. However, if they cross a line and take it too far, don't be afraid to sack them with a bag full of bars of soap. Don't let people walk all over you.

5. Carl.

Carl has taught me to just be yourself. He is portrayed as a bit of a weirdo, but he owns it and doesn't care what other kids think of him. That's important.

6. Frank

Frank taught me that family is there for you, even when you massively mess up. No matter if it's figuring out how to get you home from ending up in Canada or help you scam the federal government as demonstrated in the show.

7. Monica.

Monica has taught me to be aware of other peoples' feelings and what's going on in their lives. People view situations differently, and just because you don't get sad about it or you can pull yourself out of a funk, doesn't mean everyone can. Be patient and open-minded.

Overall, all of these characters have made their mistakes and successes. Sometimes you have to be a Fiona, and other times you have to be an Ian. In this messed-up-looking family at first they seem a bit much, but you fall in love with each of the characters and live through their mistakes and achievements as if they're your own.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
