What is the idea of time? What do all the hours, minutes and seconds mean? Is time speeding up on us or has time slowed down? Are you running out of time to accomplish the goals you set for yourself? Maybe you have plenty of time to do so. Maybe you don't. Time is really a subjective concept.
The length of time to one person may not feel the same to you. Society has quantified time only so that there is some sort of basis for all of us to relate to. Despite the standard seconds, minutes, etc., the way we feel time is personal. For example, all of us have heard someone sigh and mention that they have had a "long day." Just because he or she had a long day doesn't necessarily mean you had a long day. Your day may have been dragged out second by second. The same amount of time passed both people by, but each person felt time differently. Another example definitely applies to most of us college kids. You may be assigned a paper or some other project in a class and have a month to do it. As we all know though, the majority of us are going to procrastinate and hang out with our friends for a week straight. Maybe two weeks straight. Then the due date approaches you closer and closer. It's as if the due date snuck up on us. The same amount of time passed for those assigned the project. How long you feel a month is subjective. Because of time's subjectivity, we should no longer use time as an excuse to hold us back from living out our lives.
More than likely, at some point today, you thought about working towards a specific goal you've set for yourself. That could be working out, starting a new show on Netflix or even going to the grocery store however, you did nothing to move closer to accomplish this goal solely because you felt as if you did not have enough time. Though the hands on the clock continue to move in the same fashion, at the same pace every single day, you can change how you feel about time. Perhaps you just failed to budget your time appropriately and ended up spending more time on tasks that are not very important. Maybe you just lacked the motivation to accomplish in general. Either way, whatever your excuse may be, time is not to blame. You have a choice to feel time however you may wish. Regardless of how you view time, the seconds did not get longer. The minutes did not shorten. Nobody's trimming time or adding time. How you spend time is purely up to you. You can either waste it, or make the most out of what time you feel you personally have.
