I just turned 19 this past weekend, and even though 19 might not seem as the biggest milestone as 16 or 18 or 21 might feel it is still a pretty big deal. No one makes a huge deal about it but hey you are still here to live yet another great year. In the past 19 years of my existence, my life has been filled with great experiences and opportunities and with each experience an opportunity I have learned a lesson.

1. It is okay to say no

You don’t owe anyone an explanation to saying no. If your friends want you to go out, but you would rather just sit home with pizza and Netflix well then that’s perfectly okay.

2. Always trust your instincts

If something feels right, go for it. Do not make a list of all the things that could possibly go wrong. Its better to go for it then to wonder and think what could have been.

3. Always be direct

It's better to be direct rather than indirect. People value honest opinions more than the fakes ones.

4. Life begins right outside of your comfort zone

It's not always easy to put yourself out there and to try new things or meet new people, but sometimes doing that will help you.

5. The gym is a great reliever

Stressed? Frustrated? Well, the gym is a great place to get rid of all those problems. Coming from me, someone who hated going to the gym, has now realized that is a such a great way to relieve stress and frustration along with burning calories.

6. Some people in your life are only there for a season

Not everyone you meet is going to stay in your life forever, some people come into your life as blessings others as lessons.

7. Not everyone is going to like you

You are going to meet a lot of people in your life but not everyone is going to like you and that’s okay because what matters is that you like yourself.

8. Mom is always right

She may not seem right in the moment but later you will realize that she indeed was right.

9. Quality over quantity

It doesn’t matter how many people you call your friends, what matters is who was, is, and who will be there for you in your toughest times.

10. It's okay to cry

Crying doesn’t mean you are weak, it just means you feel strong enough to actually show what you are feeling.

11. Be accepting

Be accepting of new things, changes and people.

12. Do what makes you happy

Always do what makes you happy, never wait to seek anyone’s validation.

13. Live each day as your last

Live each day to the fullest because life is short and you never know what’s going to happen.

14. Respect yourself first

In order to have others around you respect you, you need to learn to respect yourself first.

15. Stop worrying about what other people think

Stop worrying what other people will think and do what you want and what your heart desires because in the end what matters is that you are enjoying life and you are happy with what you’re doing.

16. Be thankful

Always be thankful for everything and everyone you have.

17. Things happen for a reason

Things always happen for a reason, and sometimes that reason may not be clear, but sooner or later you will see why it happened.

18. Learn from your experiences

All the experiences you will endure in your life will teach you a little something and always value that.

19. Always be you

The most important is to be you no matter what. Love yourself unconditonally. Respect yourself, and be happy with yourself and who you are.

Nineteen may not be a huge milestone, but it sure does come with plenty of new experiences.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
