The meaning of an introvert is someone who is more connected with their inner emotions, while finding it much more pleasing and rewarding.
One thing that a lot of people (mostly those who are extroverts) do is mistake introverts for being particularly shy. Let me put it as clear as possible, I'M NOT AS SHY AS YOU THINK I AM.
I mean yes, I might not be as outgoing, or have as much energy as most people, but that's just because I am always thinking. When I am around others and not saying much, it does not indicate that I'm in a bad mood. It indicates that I just don't have a lot to say and would prefer to listen.
The difficult part about being an introvert is how people assume that I am shy because I don't say much. They're wrong. I may not be the kind of person to right away go up to a complete stranger and start talking, but I still do it. I am still completely capable of having a normal conversation and not act like I have social anxiety.
If anything, I would rather stay at home and watch Netflix than go out to a party, especially if I do not know all of the people that are going to be there. However, I'd have to say that my ability to go outside of my comfort zone and not do what normal introverts do has changed since I've gotten older and become more independent.
Overall, I'd say I am a little tired of people thinking that I am shy because I do not talk as much. To this I say, no, you are just abnormally social.
