Life Gave You Lemons

I want to help you make the best lemonade you've ever had

Not to sound too cheesy and cliche, but life gave you lemons. Life is never perfect to begin with, but it handed you the sourest of fruit and left it all up to you to make something tasteful of it. You've worked so hard to manage to squeeze out some juice for lemonade, as people always suggest. I understand that it's hard to make it just right, so it doesn't taste like a bad medicine that isn't fixing you. I wouldn't blame you if all you wanted to do with them is throw them at people.

You've received some of the most bitter and disgusting lemons life had to offer. As bad as they've been, you've still been forced to take massive bites right into them and you never even pucker up the slightest bit. Your strength makes them seem so much better than they really are. It's upsetting to sit back and watch the acidic, disastrous fruit rip away your happiness like it's the enamel on your teeth.

I know you can handle the lemons, you practically juggle them, that's how good you are at receiving something so horrible. You're the kind of person who could turn lemons into orange juice and have the whole world questioning how you did it. But just because you have a handle on things, doesn't mean I wouldn't want to make it easier. Life sucks sometimes, and I get that. I have lemons too, I just want it to be better for you.

If lemonade is what you aim for, I want to help you make the best lemonade you've ever had. You cannot possibly be expected to make a perfect glass all by yourself. If it's too tart, I hope you know I will always do my best to be the sugar that sweetens it. If it needs cooling down after sitting in the sun that is your hot head, I'll be the ice that lowers the temperature. If the glass is seeming a little half-empty, I'll fill it all the way to the top. I would even strain out the pulp if it's too bitter to handle.

There's nothing I wouldn't give to make you happy and full of life. I know you feel like the world is against you, but I would never leave your side. I pray for your happiness, health, and safety before my own, because I love you and you deserve that much from me. I lend you pieces of my heart and I know they're never wasted. Life didn't know how amazing the person was that it gave its toughest lemons to.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
