It sometimes seems like a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off, lurking and building up the tension by the second. The problem is, we think we know when it will go off or that we can avoid it, yet it still hits us out of nowhere and it seems all we can do is simply watch the destruction of everything around us.
For people like me, our immediate desire is to fix everything. To patch up all the wounds as best we can and pray they don't burst open again, angrily bleeding all over everyone in it. Sometimes we also realize that it is beyond our power to do so. The question is, where is the line? How do we navigate through the wreckage of what used to be without having any idea of how to rebuild it?
I've struggled with these questions a lot in the past week or so. I have felt powerless, at a loss of what to do or say. I'm naturally a peace-maker but I know that the evil one desires to disrupt all peace and I refuse to let him win. The problem is that it's not in my control to do that.
So what can I do? If some of these things are out of my reach, do I have to just sit and watch?
No.
Though this may seem like the worst answer, it's the only real option left: pray.
God is in control. He has all the authority over every situation, especially the ones that blow up in our faces or fall apart at the seams. We have to acknowledge that and give our desire for control over to Him.
This doesn't mean we do nothing, but we do what is in God's will for us. Maybe that is pure prayer, maybe it is directly intervening, but it depends on what God desires for us because He knows the best course of action. He knows how to heal the situation so we need to let Him do so.
Things may be really hard right now but it isn't the end, God is still at work. He is always moving, we need only trust in Him and His direction. Peace and healing will come.
