Why Life Is Better With A Dog

Whoever said diamonds were a girl's best friend obviously never owned a dog.

Everyone has those "life changing" moments in their lives. Those moments where people look back and question how they ever lived life before that moment. That moment when someone came in to their lives and changed their life for the better. In this case I am talking about that friend who never left your side after entering your life, the one who you can always count on to listen to your bantering (as if they have a choice), the friend who goes for runs with you, cuddles with you, and the friend you can always rely on- your furry (shedding everywhere) best friend.

Being a dog person, there is no doubt in my mind that owning a furry best friend will change your life for the better. There is just something about being with your dog that makes you more relaxed and happier. Whether you are out playing fetch at a local dog park or laying on the floor together watching Beethoven, something about having your furry best friend by your side improves your mood no matter how bad of a day you have had.

Not only do they improve your mood in a matter of seconds, but they also help you around the house on a daily basis. Whether you are cooking, eating take-out, or binge eating the sweets in your cupboard- you can always count on your furry best friend to be there to pick up the crumbs. Who even needs a vacuum when you have a dog? And when they are not on-the-clock as your own personal clean-up crew, they are your own personal alarm system. No one can deny the fact that you feel 99x more safe when home alone if you have your dog by your side. No matter how sweet and adorable your furry best friend is, if you are in trouble there is no doubt in your mind that they would be there to defend you.

You can always count on them to keep you in shape as well. Because, it's not like they can walk themselves. Having a furry best friend forces you to get up and out of the house (sorry Netflix), and to get some fresh air. These nice long walks can even lead to more human being and furry best friends. After all, what's better than having your furry best friend by your side? Having another best friend with their own furry best friend too.

These are all completely true and hilarious reasons why everyone should own a dog at some point in their lives. But, coming from someone who had to put their first dog down a few years ago and who now not only has one, but two (as of a few days ago), new furry best friends- I cherish my relationship with these animals more than I ever had before. The relationship you have with your dogs are incomparable to all your other close relationships.

Your dogs never judge you, they love you no matter what mistakes you may make, after only a few hours apart they greet you like it's been months, somehow they can always read your mind and know when you have had a rough day and just need someone to cuddle up with, they will never leave your side, and they will never let you leave without a smile on your face.

That feeling of a wet tongue and the sight of a wagging tail, if that isn't love I don't know what is. Dogs love you like you are the best person ever. They let you know that they appreciate you, and that their world would just not be the same without you in it. They may only be here for a part of our lives, but to them you are their entire life.

Now go cuddle with your dog; or go adopt one if you don't already have one and change your life for the better. After all, life is better with a dog.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
