Why All Lives Matter

“Life is precious” …This is a quote that I have heard many times throughout my life. Over the years, my experiences have allowed me to grasp the relevance of this quote. I have gained a deeper appreciation for life by understanding that every day is a gift. Since life can get busy, hectic and distracting, we become oblivious to the delicacy of life and often take it for granted.

Every person on this earth was put here for a reason. Every person on this earth is valuable in some way. Although this may not seem to hold true based on the prevailing evil in the world, it is our mission to shift our perspectives and interpret all individuals with fresh eyes. There is certainly a lot of evil that exists in the world, but there is a lot of good that exists as well. In writing this article, I feel that I must highlight the importance of every life and explain that every life has meaning and purpose, that every life matters.

As we grow old, it becomes easier to understand that this world has the potential to offer us significant lessons every day. This occurs through the actions and behavior of the individuals around us. The evil that we observe in others or the information that is conveyed through the media can serve as reminders of how not to act. After all, it’s important to have criminals in society because without them, the good in the world would not be acknowledged…it wouldn’t exist. The bad people teach us that we cannot trust everyone, and that the intentions of others are not always positive. The good people provide us with hope, and they prove that kindness is contagious and can make the world a better place.

Unfortunately, racism and discrimination are prevalent issues in modern society. It seems that these issues are rampant and have created a hostile atmosphere that is primarily built on fear and intimidation. “Black lives matter” is a campaign that has brought attention to these evils in society. This campaign has initiated extreme controversy. Rather than pinpointing one race, many people feel that society should be focusing on a humanity as a whole by proclaiming that all lives matter.

I am not in the position to tell people what to think or how to act, but if we want to make the world a better place, it is necessary for everyone to accept one another. Every person is unique in their own way. Everyone has different interests, different goals, and different preferences; no two people are alike. If we begin to picture humanity as a giant puzzle and compare each individual to a puzzle piece, a better understanding of life’s meaning may be acquired. This metaphor can provide people with the opportunity to realize that the puzzle is not complete without each individual, that all lives matter and people contribute to the world in their own distinctive ways.

We need to live ourselves, and let other people around us live as they wish. Life is a beautiful thing; it is the greatest gift. Every person deserves to live their life according to their aspirations, and they should not be judged for being themselves. Let us strive for peace, unity, and acceptance for these are extremely powerful virtues that will ultimately lead to a better future for humanity.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
