If you go to Hunter or any CUNY school you know your senior year is going to be hell. You have to meet all these language, pluarism and diversity, and general education requirements that you never knew existed. You need to take more than 15 credits to graduate on time. Your grades are obviously not what they need to be to get a credit overload because most of your professors do not believe in giving A’s. And the amount of work they give you in your last two semesters is insane.
So without a credit overload you need to do an E-permit, which is the most terrible experience ever because CUNYfirst is the slowest software in the world. And on top of that there are holds put on your account for the smallest of things, like that required sexual assault workshop. I think it is good that the college is spreading awareness about this issue, but at the same time the havoc these workshops are creating in our lives is too intense. Classes are already so hard to get, and now with these holds it just delays your process.
The saddest part to be a senior in Hunter College is that you probably won't even graduate with the major that you wanted to. Most of students that go to Hunter change their major because of credits, requirements, eligibility and all that. For example I got accepted in the School of Education and ended up doing my major in English and Public Policy. How did that happen?
But regardless of all the flaws we all are going to miss Hunter and its crowded hallways, crappy food, Thomas Hunter building rooms and the sky-bridges. See you on the other side.
