"There is no greater fear than fear itself." Well, that's not entirely true because one of my biggest fears (like any other science student) lies in breaking a beaker or a thermometer. Consider each science class as its own city: each course has its own unique atmosphere. For instance, you enter your organic chemistry classroom and for a while concepts begin to make sense until you learn that alcohol is useful and sometimes the right answer (wait, what?). Aside from the challenging concepts and scary truths presented in each course, science courses also teach the true meaning of determination. This constant persistence is found among peers, Friday's, food, and the realization that you're one step closer toward who you want to become.
With this in mind, here are the 11 thoughts that any science major can relate to:
1. It's weird to finish lab before the scheduled time slot.
2. There is no better feeling than getting that one problem right.
3. Whiteboards/Chalkboards are very useful during study sessions. You can draw molecular orbitals, contemplate life, write down your seamless order, etc.
4. The phrase "I can't hang out, I have lab" is not an excuse. It's the honest truth.
5. Writing a lab report brings about so many emotions.
6. Time is not your friend, but that late night snack is.
7. There is nothing scarier than hearing that the final will be cumulative.
8. Dressing in comfortable clothes is key.
9. You doubt yourself. A million times. Yet, you never give up because you know you can do it.
10. Your textbooks weigh more than you, but you carry them around anyways.
11. You love understanding science jokes (oops)
Life as a science major presents a challenge. However, anyone who is a science major can tell you that it's worth the sleepless nights; it's one step closer toward who you want to become.
