When starting college, students don't usually know exactly what they want to do. Most students will change their major several times before finding what they like, while others know from birth. Being a student is a test. We have to learn to balance class work and our social lives. However, what each student is usually concerned about is his or her future. Will there be a future in our chosen field? Only time will tell.
1. What do I want to major in?
Picking a major is difficult. Especially when you don't know exactly what you are interested in.
2. What should I actually major in to get a job?
As a student you learn that sometimes your interests don't match up with your future. You find that you're majoring in something that you love, but as you research the available jobs keep decreasing. Internships are even harder to find when you don't have the previous experience. A lot of internships require experience to get the experience.
3. Am I actually going to get a job out of college?
At some point during your college career you start doubting your life as a college student. You start to question your future and if you're going about it in the right way. There are so many different majors and many different programs. Choosing one is difficult. Realizing that there are so many other people graduating the SAME time as you are with the SAME major, makes you question your decision. Do I have to go to graduate school? Am I getting a degree in something reasonable? Am I wasting my time?
4. Where will I be in 5 years?
The future is not predictable. You wonder and wonder what life will be like out of school, so you start to think. You think about a great job, a family, living on your own...but then you snap out of that really quick. You don't want to go into the real world just yet. You still feel like a child.
5. Oh my God, I have to find that "special someone."
During your college years, your friends will start to couple. But you don't have time for that especially if you have a lot of school work to do all the time. You start feel left out, but your age is a question mark. You want to be single and be in a relationship. You want to find your soulmate, but you're not ready to settle down.
6. Wait, I'm too young for that.
You don't need to settle down when you're in college. You're young and you have your entire life ahead of you.
7. Who wants to go out tonight?
Going out will be a stress reliever. It tends to keep your mind off of the stress, but once you're back in the swing of things your problems are back.
8. What did we do last night?
When you're stressed you tend to party a little too hard. It's important to make sure you're not drinking too much, or too frequently.
9. Is it time for break yet?
At the end of the semester, school work starts to build up. Professors tend to schedule tests for the same day, and you are over stressed. Some students write their work down in order to help them cope with the stress. Once they pass in their work or take their tests, they get to cross it off their list. Literally feeling a weight being lifted off your shoulders.
10. I miss my friends. Why do they live so far away?
When you are finally granted your wish of being on vacation, you wish to be back at school. You start to feel bored at home. Your siblings are either in school or your parents are at work.
Most students come from far or near, making it difficult to stay in contact. For example, some of my friends live four or six hours away, making it hard to hang out in person.
11. Why am I still in school?
There comes a time where you get tired of being in school. You've been there for most of your life, but you also realize that you need that degree to get a job and want to fast forward to adulthood.
12. I don't wanna be an adult.
You think again about graduating and realize that you're not ready to become an adult. You start to feel like you haven't even been a kid yet.
13. I think I'll just become a professional student.
You start to question what you want to do with your life. After you change your major several times you just decide to become a professional student.
Keep smiling.
