Dear Best Friend,
Where do I begin? First I’ll say, “Thank you.” Thank you for always standing by me, for laughing with me, for going on endless adventures with me, for letting me cry, for letting me vent, for keeping me safe and most importantly, for never leaving. You are my person.
Since the day I met you (what grade was it even?) I haven’t ever doubted our friendship. Even when you drive me nuts, I wouldn’t trade what we have for the world. Every sleepover, every night out, every vacation and everything in between, you have been there. Even back in the day when we were Bieber-crazed, Juicy-obsessed prepubescent girls, we created the best memories that we still talk about today.
Getting through high school was definitely a challenge. Girls these days will say anything to get you down and finding a boyfriend that respected you seemed like it was harder than running a marathon. I have no idea how I would’ve gotten through the best and worst times without you by my side. Looking back on those 4 years as a whole, my favorite memories have you in it. Our crazy rollerblading routine in PE class, to the many laughs during lunch period, to homecoming week themes, these are memories I will forever cherish.
We aren’t just friends, we are sisters. My family includes you as if you are one of our own, and vice versa. Family dinners just wouldn’t be the same without you. Not to mention, it’s a given that you we are a package deal for vacations, dinner dates, and even formals. You are the better half of me. People make fun of us for finishing each other’s sentences and reading each other’s minds, but that is just who we are. You have always supported me through each crappy decision and difficult time. We have the type of friendship that when one of us is upset, someone will be paying for it, and we will be on the phone with a hit man while on the way to save the day with cookie dough ice cream.
I couldn’t be more proud of the person you are today and I feel like I am the lucky one for getting to be by your side through every step of the way. Our friendship means more to me than you will ever know and I never want it to change. I’m not going to lie, I thought that going to college together would make me hate your guts, but it has done the complete opposite. It has shown me that our friendship really is bulletproof. I spend every waking moment with you and I think it has made us even closer (if that’s possible). I just want to say, “Good luck” to the rest of the world that has to deal with us, and also to the boys that try to steal our hearts in the future. We have a bond that cannot be broken. I know that every milestone yet to come, you’ll be with me and I can’t wait.
Just remember, even though we can never agree on what side to stand on in pictures and we fight over which one to post, you’ll always be my #1. Thank you for never hating me even when I can be a lot to handle, and for always bringing out the best in me.
