A Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend
TheOdysseyOnline

Dear my long distance best friend,

Thank you, for being my best friend despite the 600 miles that lies between us.

Thank you for always being my shoulder to cry on, even if it is over FaceTime.

Thank you for truly being a middle aged mom with me while we sit on my oversized bean bag chair and eat our body weight in cookie dough.

Thank you for always being able to pick it up right where we left off when we see each other.

Thank you for being super weird with me, especially when we make up fake names for strangers and songs about road signs.

Thank you for always buying me cookies and creme Hershey's. I wish people would love them just as much as we do.

Thank you for always throwing shade with me. Thank you especially for being savage with me like that one time in Yearbook.

Thank you for making dumb videos with me and NEVER posting them. I do not think anyone would understand any of our inside jokes. We would probably go viral though.

Thank you for being just as weird as I am. I don’t think I will ever find anyone who gets me and my weirdness like you do. And thank you for never judging me on how weird I am (at least not to my face.)

Thank you for always telling me the truth, even if it is hard for me to hear it.

Thank you for loving HGTV and Food Network just as much as me. I love our long nights of Property Brothers and Chopped marathons.

Thank you for promising me that we will move to Canada together if Donald Trump wins. As fun as that would be, I really hope he does not win. But we can still live in Canada if you want to.

Thank you for always trusting me with anything you tell me, and thank you for letting me put my trust in you.

Thank you for being the most fabulous human on the planet. No, seriously, can I have your cheekbones?

Thank you for being my best friend.

I want you to know that despite the distance between us, or wherever life takes us, you will always be my best friend. You have stuck with me through everything, and you probably know me better than I know myself sometimes. I will forever be grateful for you, our inside jokes, our long night talks, our daily target trips when we are together and our endless laughter. You have stayed by my side for so long, and I can't imagine my life without you. Life doesn't make sense without you. You bring me more joy than I could have ever imagined, and I am so thankful for you. Always remember that I still choose you to be my maid of honor.

Thank you for you.

I love you forever.

Love, your long distance best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
