Dear Best Friend,
How do I begin to thank you for all of the things you have done for me? You've been there for it all, the late nights crying about boys, the early mornings preparing for road trips, and the countless laughs and memories we've created. I never thought that something as simple as a youth choir could've changed my life forever, but you are living, breathing proof that it has.
I'll never forget meeting you eight years ago! It feels like just yesterday, but at the same time, it feels like we've been friends as long as I can remember. We sat around in my room, gave each other makeovers, and took a thousand pictures on a desktop computer with an attachable webcam. I specifically remember uploading them all to Facebook and being so excited that we had finally become friends.
Fast forward just a couple years and we went on our first vacation together. I can vividly remember slipping all the way down the side of the mountain just so we could get "cute" pictures--to post on Facebook, of course. Your little sister fought with me like she was my own and that's when I knew that our friendship was turning into a family.
As the years draw on, we find ourselves becoming closer than ever, driving across this portion of the state to support each other in all that we do. Tennis matches, art shows, and of course, youth choir concerts were the best times of high school because I knew they meant I'd get to see you. The more I learn about myself in college and the kind of person that I am, it blows my mind even more that you've put up with me for a little over eight years now.
Since we are a year apart, I was nervous about you starting college away from me. We'd spent our entire friendship an hour apart, but being five hours away was completely different. I was scared you'd get there and find new friends that were cooler and more convenient than me. But, I rest assured because you texted me almost every day to update me on all the happenings in Wilmington.
One of the most special things that ever happened to me in college was becoming your sister in Kappa Delta. We already had a sisterhood, but being able to share this huge part of my life with you was something more amazing than I'd ever imagined.
Having a long distance friendship is difficult, but it taught me a lot. It taught me to never take advantage of the time we get to spend together, the memories that we make, and the love that we're able to share. I'd love to thank your family for bringing me in and loving me like I'm one of their own. Please get a job near me so I don't ever have to be apart from you! I'm so thankful for you and all you do.
I'll like you forever, and I'll love you for always!!
xoxo,
Hailey
