Dear North Carolina,
I would just like to start off by saying that you are doing a great job. You really are trying, and we all do appreciate that. However, we need you to try harder. We need this because the current weather situation you are giving us is highly unpredictable, and makes, well, everything, very difficult. I think I am speaking for many other North Carolinians by saying when I wake up in the morning, all ready to put on my FALL clothing, with my cute little boots and cute little sweaters and cute little scarves, and then I check my weather app, I experience my heart breaking just a little bit every single time I see that blazing yellow sun and big, bold, dream crushing 85 degrees staring back at me. Then, once I finally accept my fate, and am prepared to put on my good ol’ shorts and a t-shirt, the weather app then laughs at me and gives me the biggest “PYSCH!!!!” moment of all time when I see the “49 degrees and rainy” message mocking me.
Now if you happen to be reading this and not know what North Carolina weather is like, allow me to explain with an example of a week of North Carolina weather:
Sunday- 65 degrees, partly cloudy
Monday- 72 degrees, sunny and humid
Tuesday- 80 degrees, chance of thunderstorms
Wednesday- 64 degrees, rainy and extremely humid
Thursday- 58 degrees, sunny
Friday- 45 degrees during the day, 30 at night with a chance of snow
Saturday- 60 degrees, windy
Not only does the weather take us on a roller coaster weekly, but we experience the complete span of season within a single day! Walking to early classes most mornings prove to have the temperature Snapchat filter in the 45-55 degree range, but by the time you leave your 9 am the sweater you put on to combat the cold leaves you sweating, and you end up carrying your heavy protection from the cold on the 15 minute trek back to your dorm.
Basically, dear Mother Nature in charge of North Carolina, we’re just asking for a little bit of consistency here. We all have enough things to worry about, and having some consistency in our lives would make everything a heck of a lot easier.
Sincerely yours,
All of North Carolina
