Dear Baby Gators,
The beginning of the semester is quickly approaching and you are about to embark on a brand new and exciting adventure at the University of Florida. All of us here are so excited to meet you. You all are well prepared and ready to be successful however there are a few important facts that I wish I knew before beginning my freshmen year.
Now, I feel it is important to share them with you:
- You must study:
In high school you may have been able to float through without cracking a book however, you may soon learn that is not the case any more. College classes are challenging and require a lot more effort than high school did. It is important to prepare well in advance that way you will not be cramming six weeks of material into one evening. It is so important to apply yourself in college in order to set the foundation for a wonderful career in the future. However, studying 24/7 is not ideal as well. Make sure to get out and enjoy the opportunities around you. - Do not get overwhelmed:
College allows for many opportunities; clubs, organizations, the Greek system, even club sports. You do not have to become involved in absolutely everything but picking a few never hurt. The college transition is difficult enough on its own so make sure few the few you do pick are interesting and assist you in finding your place on campus. College is the ideal time to find your niche and enjoy your life while enhancing your academic career. Always remember that the University of Florida is a welcoming environment and wants everyone to become involved. - Finally, enjoy the ride:
College is the greatest four to five years of your life. You will make the greatest friends, be inspired by professors, and find your passion. The University of Florida allows for the most amazing opportunities and prepares you for the life you dreamed. Make sure to enjoy the time you spend here. Attend sporting events, concerts, become involved and inspire others. It truly is a life changing time and years that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Welcome Baby Gators!
