To the girls who have our room next school year,
This little room, our current home, is your future home. We sit here now, only a few days away from our move out days, thinking back on all the memories we made in this little space. We hope that you have a year full of all the fun that we had this year.
Its move in day, the day that incoming freshman wait for since the day they committed to the college of their choosing. After you committed, the roommate search began. Some of you took your chances and let the school randomly assign you a roommate and others let the search begin. You went through your incoming class Facebook page and searched page after page for the girl you want to live with for the whole next school year, and finally, you found her. After this, it's all excitement. You talk, and you think of color schemes and cute ideas for dorm decorations, nervously asking questions and doing your very best to get to know this person before you move in. But now, here it is: you're moving into your dorm room, and there is a girl moving into the other side of the room.
You'll never know it at that moment, but you will make so many memories in this room.
I know that this room doesn't look like much now. Right now, all you see is a couple items of furniture arranged in the most unattractive way possible. Just know that you and your roommate are going to transform this tiny little space into a comfy home in the next couple of months. You're going to decorate it with funny pictures of you and your friends from home, but as the year progresses, you'll add more with the friends you make here. Right now, the idea of sleeping five feet from someone you don't know is one of the most intimidating things that college presents, but don't worry. By the end of the year, you'll wish you could go back.
You are going to have so many memories made here: good, bad, funny, sad, stressful. And your roommate is going to be there for each and every one of them. We're sorry if there is some damage to the furniture in the room, but we promise you that there is a funny story behind the stain in the rug, the little holes in the walls, and the squeaky desk chair. You guys will add your mark to the room as well, creating your own little bit of damage. There will be nights that you guys stay up until 2am asking each other questions, and googling funny things that pop into your minds. You'll laugh hysterically when one (or both) of you have to climb behind your mini fridge to defrost it before each semester ends. You both will complain when they turn the air conditioner off for the year because you live on the third floor and it's so hot that you actually have the window open during the middle of winter. You are going to think back on the night where you ordered dominos at midnight after a long day. Laying on the floor complaining about how much work you guys have to do, but in reality, you're just helping each other procrastinate.
This room is home to so many of our favorite memories, and soon to be home to some of yours too.
