A Letter To The Girl With Big Dreams

A dream is a wish your heart makes.

A Letter To The Girl With Big Dreams
DeAnn Hopkins

If your dreams don't scare you then they aren't big enough.

A children, we are told that we can do anything we put our minds to. So we dream to become a ballerina, a firefighter, a princess, or a police officer. As we grow up, our dreams of who we want to be get a bit more complicated. And as we get older, sometimes we realize that our dreams become a little more difficult to reach. Nonetheless, we still strive to become great. We want to become someone that our parents are proud to talk about. That is also a lot of pressure.

As we are trying to reach our dreams, many obstacles can get in the way. It could be time, money, support, or fear.

Our lives are so busy that we push our dreams to the side and say "Oh well I will come back to that when things calm down a little." Do things ever calm down though? We will always make excuses as to why we have to keep pushing off our dreams until it is too late to try and accomplish them. You have to make time if a dream is truly important to you.

We like to believe that with a lot of money, we can accomplish anything. You can accomplish many things in life with money, but the lack of money can kill a dream in our head. We like to think that since we don't have the money, our dream can't flourish. they are plenty of ways to accumulate some money. You can save money from a job or have a fundraiser. if a dream is important enough, you can always make a way.

There are always going to be haters in your life. Trust me, I have experienced plenty of them in the last week. You can't let them bother you. They are worried that you are going to be better than them. You know what, you already are because you wouldn't put them down for fear of being less than them. Let them say whatever they want to you because honestly they do not matter now or in your future. Use that hate to help you fulfill that dream.

Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by a belief that something is dangerous. It is not that your dream is dangerous, but the fear of failing is dangerous to our self esteem. Fear can kill any dream, but fear can also be an empowerment. Fear can be used as a crutch or you can turn it around and use it as a means to further your dream. If you believe that you are going to fail , then you are going to be more likely to not accomplish your dream. If you know you are going to succeed, despite that little fear you still have in your mind, then you will accomplish all that you set your mind to.

I have had the same dream for the last five years. I want to become a pharmacist. I want to be my own boss. I keep striving for that dream even though plenty of people in my life have told me that I can't do it. I refuse to listen to them because I know I can. Of course there have been obstacles that have gotten in my way, but I plan around them and keep moving. That is all you can really do.

Keep striving for greatness, I believe in you. Never let your dreams die.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
