Dear Me,
Congrats!! You made it through rush! The week of constant smiling, stressing and sweating is finally over! And guess what, you’re still alive.
Remember where you were two weeks ago. Recruitment was always on your mind. You were relentlessly thinking about the 10 sororities on campus, and you asked yourself which one would make you the happiest. You thought about your Bid Day Instagram post, and you practiced the hand sign of your favorite sororities. Now, you’ve probably posted that picture of you doing your hand sign, and you’re probably obsessively checking it to see if you’ve beat your record.
Like I said earlier, you made it through the never-ending cycle of smiling then sweating some then smiling again then sweating again and then getting back to your dorm and stressing. I know every night you asked yourself if you made the right decision. The answer is yes you did make the right decision. There was a reason you kept that sorority, and there was a reason you cut that one. Whatever you chose to do, that’s the way it was supposed to be. Be proud of what you chose.
Remember when you first came to school in the fall? Remember those fears you had? You thought you weren’t going to get a bid, have armpit stains and be too awkward. You were constantly told by your Gamma Chi, your parents, your best friends and older girls who you had never met before to just be yourself. You were yourself, you did your best and you gave it your all.
When you’re reading this, remember the following:
- Being in a sorority doesn’t make or break you. It doesn’t define who you are.
- Make your sorority experience what you want to make it.
- Don’t forget who you are in this long, grueling, stressful process.
Wherever you are right now reading this, remember you made it. You are where you’re supposed to be, and that is a reason to smile.
Love,
Me
