A Letter To My Beautiful Little Sister

Little Sister,

There is so much I wish for you in this life. Although I have always been older, ever since you have grown, I have always admired and looked up to you. Life has always been backward. You were the smart, beautiful one and I had a lot to learn from you. I have never seen someone be as bright and beautiful as you.

You are the hardest working person I know.

You go day in and day out being nonstop busy. You never have time to take a breather because you are always so busy doing amazing things. You are so intelligent that even me, a college student, knows I will never compare to you.

You take work so seriously and you are so focused and I guess that gene skipped over me. You are going to go so far in this life and I can not wait to see what you do.

Beyond your brains, you have your beauty. Even with no makeup, you are just as stunning. I remember when you first started wearing mascara and I didn't want to believe it because, in essence, that just meant my little sister was growing up.

I have seen you take those few steps of being a teenager and get blown away by your class and elegance along the way. I am so upset I will not be at home when you take your first stroll through the doors of high school.

One of my biggest regrets is being over 500 miles away and not being able to experience a bunch of firsts with you. There is nothing I want more than to be able to hold your hand through life and I hope that one day when I graduate and am at home for good that we can experience other firsts for you. I hope you know you can call me with anything. A sister is a best friend you were given at birth and I hope you never forget that.

So, with that, let me just say how proud I am of you. Watching you grow up to be the girl you are today has been nothing but a pleasure. I hope one day I could be as witty, determined and as lovely as you are. I love you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
