Hey Roomie,

I can't believe the new academic year has just already started and we're finally back at school! This time, however, we get to conquer the upcoming year together.

I am so lucky to have been blessed with such an amazing person to spend this upcoming year with. Hopefully, our friendship will only flourish from here, and I can't wait to become even closer with you.

I cannot express how excited I am for the many late night vents we'll undoubtedly share, and nights out together that we honestly and probably won't remember. I can't help but anticipate sharing clothing when we have nothing to wear when we're going somewhere special, helping one another through academic and personal struggles, and creating so many inside jokes that we will one day laugh about.

We have already been through so much together and you have been such an incredible support system through so much of it. I hope that I can do the same for you and provide a shoulder to cry on or laugh with whenever you need.

I'll always be ready with Netflix, ice cream, and sushi whenever we need to spend a night in, and I'll be happy to make us dinner when our meal plans have run out of all of our money. We'll take as many pictures as necessary in order to find the perfect ones to post and help each other edit them when they still haven't come out perfect. I'm looking even more forward to the nights that we bum in sweatpants with a bottle of wine and sit in our common room just spending time together. I'm sorry in advance if I annoy you when I am having a difficult day, or can't find something to wear, or just genuinely am in a bad mood. I hope that we can support one another through those times because it is essential that we work through any issues together.

Hopefully, we'll sleep in late and grab breakfast together on the weekends and grab dinner throughout the week even if we're busy with schoolwork and extra activities. I am not only looking forward to being your roommate, but also strengthening our budding friendship.

Through just a year of knowing one another, I have watched you change for the better and have admired you for all of your perseverance, successes and newfound growth. So many of your qualities are ones that I hope to ultimately and eventually attain, and I can't thank you enough for being such a wonderful role model for me. Living together will only strengthen that.

As we start this year together, I am so excited for us to own our sophomore year and own it. I know that we both deserve the world and I hope that by being by one another's sides, we can have an incredible and successful year together.

Love you,

Your RooMmie

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
