We all have that special person in our lives. The one we can go to for anything. The one that will always support and guide us through all of our troubles. For me, this person was my nanny. She is someone I look to whenever I need help. This is a letter to her, letting her know how she has influenced my life and how much I love and appreciate her and all the things she has done for me. I am sharing this with all of you in the hopes that it will help you to appreciate these people in your life and encourage you to share with them how you feel about them.
Dear Nanny,
The first real memory I have of you was when I was very young. My cousins and I were playing outside, and you told us not to get dirty. After about an hour of simply being little kids, we (of course) forgot and began throwing mud at each other. We came running back up to your house and the second we made it to the porch, we knew we were in big trouble. You had your arms crossed and the look in your eyes told me we were in for it. Then you slowly uncrossed your arms and guided us to the water hose. With a calm voice you told us how disappointed you were in us for disobeying you. I remember just hearing you say that broke my heart, but I also realized something else that day. Though you were angry and disappointed in us, you never raised your voice and you remained kind. I realized that day that you were the woman I would one day hope to become.
As I grew up I began to further comprehend the kind of woman you are. You make sure to always get your work done before you do anything, you put God and your family first before anything else, and you always do things the way you think God would. I don't believe you have any hate in your heart. For those who have ever wronged you, you pray for them every night. You always stay kind and patient with them. This has always baffled me! You never talk bad about someone or down to them. This is something I admire the most. You are a sweet and Godly woman. I hope to one day become like you. I look up to you more than you know. When I see you, I see God. I see His light in you and I see His love. As a young woman in 2016, it is hard to be all of these things, but I am so grateful that I have someone like you to show me the way.
Now being a young woman, I get to have adult conversations with you. We talk everything from God, to politics, to our troubles. I hold these conversations dear to my heart. The more I learn from you, the more I feel I am closer to my goal of becoming an amazing woman like you. I love just sitting out on the porch with you and talking about anything. When I am older, these are the things I will treasure the most. No amount of money or gift could ever compare to the talks I have with you. These mean more to me than the world. You teach me so many things and for that I am grateful.
You always say how sweet, kind, smart, and beautiful you think that I am. I would like you to know that all of those things are because of you. You have impacted my life more than anyone. In every decision I make, I try to make you proud. You have shown me what it is like to be a strong, kind, Godly woman and that is what I want for myself. You have shown me so much unconditional love. Despite the hiccups in my life, you are always there to tell me that it will be okay and to help guide me in the direction I need to go. This is such a rare thing in life and I am proud to say that I have this in mine because of you. I have been through some really dark things in my life, but you have always been the sunshine in my life. No matter what happens, I know I can always go to you and it will get better. For this, I am forever grateful.
Nanny, you are truly my hero and role model. I would like to thank you for all the things you have taught me, the patience and kindness that you have shown me, and the unconditional love you have for me. I hope that one day I can be half of the woman you are. I love you so much, Nanny, and I hope you know that. Thank you for always being there for me, no matter what was going on. It is hard for me to put into words all that you mean to me. You have made me the young woman I am today and will continue to shape me into the woman I will someday be.

Without my Nanny, I wouldn't be half the woman I am today. They deserve to know how much they are appreciated and loved. It is rare to find this kind of love and I am so grateful that I have it.
