Thank you. Thank you for being a mom or dad who leaves your family every morning to protect mine. For protecting my family, friends, and town everyday time and time again. For getting up putting on the blue uniform and not knowing what the day has in store. And in today’s world, maybe even being a target. Thank you for not backing down, and for still believing in the system.
It is not easy being a police officer in 2016, and I think everybody can agree with that. I have grown up in a family that looks at police officers as they are, heroes. With the world today, without police officers in blue it would be turmoil. Today, some people may have different opinions on your career, and no matter their opinions you still protect them and do all you can to serve your community.
I believe that there is bad everywhere. There are bad teachers (we have all had them), there are bad nurses, there are bad business men, and there are bad judges. But, with a career that deals with life and death situations 24/7, there are bound to be discrepancies, and you knew that when you decided to go through the Police Academy. So that is why I thank you. You didn’t pick the career because you were safe behind a desk. You picked that career because you want to protect as many people possible. You want to prevent crime. You want to help as many people as you come in contact with. You want to change people’s perspective of police officers. You believe in justice. You believe in your fellow police officers.
I support you. So many people support you and thank you for all you do, even though it may seem like the world is against you. In a world like today you still chose to put your life in danger day in and day out. Your city thanks you. Thank you for being a woman proving she has what it takes be a police officer, being a neighbor that looks over your street, for being a dad who gets the people off the street that can hurt your kids and their friends, for being the guy who stands up when most people would back away.
Most importantly, thank you for choosing to be a police officer, because today it is one of the hardest jobs out there.
