First off, I miss you. It is so true when people say that you lose touch with all of your classmates when you graduate. It's not that this is due to a lack of caring, it's just so easy to get caught up in our new lives that we don't have time to tend to the old parts. However, you were there during the four most constructive years of my life. You were by my side when I learned any lesson, good or bad. We helped each other decipher text messages from older boys as freshmen, and when we were upperclassmen, we went on college visits together. We blew homecoming week out of the water, attended all the different sporting events, and learned how to become the people we were meant to be.
There are so many things I could thank you for, but here are just a few.
Thank you for being there when I got my first boyfriend.
You know, when I stopped walking with you in the hallways to walk with him, and I made plans with him on the weekends. Thank you for not getting angry at me and sometimes even tagging along.
Thank you for being there when that first boyfriend broke my heart.
It was embarrassing and I thought I would never get over it. However, you assured me that I would, and it definitely wouldn't have been as easy without you by my side.
Thank you for coming to pick me up when you got your license.
You got yours almost a full year ahead of me, but yet you drove out of your way to pick me up for things so I could ride with you and not with my parents.
Thank you for accepting me, even when I went through phases I still don't want to talk about.
You never judged me and just went along with whatever I was going through. It never mattered what anyone said, we were always there for each other, ready to conquer the world.
Thank you for pushing me.
We always had big goals and we made sure that we pushed each other enough to get them done. And I must say, our hard work definitely paid off.
If I could have it my way, we would be at the same university, taking our college towns by storm. However, I know that we were placed in each other's lives to prepare us for the paths we are journeying on now. It's funny, sometimes I don't know how we could be more different, but other times, I feel like we are the exact same person.
Aspects of our life definitely change, especially when it comes to the amount of time we see each other now. Even under the current circumstances, I know you are just a phone call or text message away when I need you.
Thank you for always being a friend when I needed a friend the most, and my best friend for a very important four years of my life.
