A Letter To My Graduated Big

Big & Little, we'll always be.

A Letter To My Graduated Big

Dear Biggie,

Since you graduated and went to pursue your dreams in the real world, I have been extremely proud of you. You have bloomed into a beautiful adult, taken on challenges and remained the best role model to me. Creeping on your Facebook and learning about your latest update or adventure guarantees to put a smile on my face

Along with you graduating, it feels like a little piece of me has been missing. During sorority socials, I look around for your face to share a laugh with. I want to call you every time I need some advice about life. I feel weird when there are Big/Little photo shoots and you aren't there. It definitely hasn't been the easiest thing.

But along with you leaving, you have left me the tools to honor your legacy. You were the smartest, funniest, prettiest and kindest sister I met when I first joined our sorority, so naturally I picked you as my Big. You were everything I wanted to be when I was a senior. To this day, I try to model who you were. I try to stay away from drama and give good advice to younger members. I try to be the best I can be with my position. I try to be a well-rounded student and person in all aspects.

Like I said, it has been a little weird since you have left, but my family has also grown. Having Littles and Grandlittles makes me incredibly happy to pass down the bond of our family and tell them about the amazing person you are. You are always remembered!

So thank you, Biggie, for helping me become the woman I am today. Even though we may be thousands of miles apart and even though we don't get to talk too much, you will forever have a special place in my heart.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
