A Letter To My Future Elementary Students

My goal is to make a difference in your lives.

Dear future students,

I am going to school for one thing and one thing only: to become an elementary school teacher. My main goal is to work as hard as I can throughout my college years in order to pass my knowledge onto you. I know for a fact that all the hard work I will put into my next 3 years of school will be worth it. Late study nights consisting of pizza? Worth it. 8 AM's? Worth it. Final exams? Definitely worth it.

About a year or two ago, I discovered a project from my preschool days. My teacher wrote down for us what we wanted to be when we grew up, and of course, I said I wanted to be a teacher and a mother. And that never changed; it stuck. I've always admired the way bulletin boards were put up, the organization of pencils, markers, and pens on teachers' desks, and the organization of the classroom library. I remember in 6th grade, planning out how I would create my bulletin boards. I still am dreaming of this to this very day.

Right now, only going into sophomore year, I am so impatient. I want to grow up and graduate and teach, but I know I need to prepare. I can't wait to start observing elementary school classrooms. But part of me is already prepared. I've been working with children since I was around the age of 12. I've gone through many long, hard days of directing them and helping them grow. And I know this dream will come true once I graduate.

Just like I've been a superhero and made a difference in these childrens' lives, I hope I can make one in yours. I hope I can push you to grow. I hope I will be the reason why your intelligence will start from one small seed and blossom into a beautiful flower. I hope I can encourage you to grow mentally, socially, and emotionally. I want to be there for you. I am more than just teaching you all you need to know. I will be there for you. When one of your classmates excludes you at recess, I will be right there to push you back in. When you fall and hurt yourself, I will be right by your side to give you a Band-Aid. When there are problems at home, I will be there to comfort you and make you laugh.

So future students, you will be lucky. Prepare for a school year full of growth, learning, wisdom, and happiness. Prepare for knowledge, for discoveries, for finding yourself. You will discover parts of yourself you never know you had. You will discover that you will be able to accomplish things you never thought you could do. Be ready for one heck of a year.

Sincerely,

Your future teacher

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
