A Letter To My Friends Going Through The Worst
Courtney Scott

To my readers, my friends, who may need this or know someone who might,

I have learned a very valuable lesson recently. That life really, really stinks sometimes. It just does, it's what it was meant to do and I have a very bad habit of wallowing and never wanting to get better. Wanted to "just curl up and die" and cry for hours on end. But that was not how you were to stay. Life is awful, but you know who makes it so much more bearable? Drumroll for the most cliché answer of all time that you probably already know. God.

I just went through the most heartbreaking, and difficult time of my life. I had never experienced these kinds of emotions and feelings. Feelings of hate. Feelings of anger and bitterness towards God and the friends and family in my life. I wanted to run, I wanted to scream as loud as I could in hopes I would die or pass out or something. All I knew is that my life wasn't going to get better at all and my life would surely go to waste. Ridiculous, right? But not really. Cause when we are faced with these awful situations we like to declare the inevitable and certain failure for the future. I am here to tell you, my friend, that it does get better, and it gets better with God. And you may be so mad at God and you may blame him for your current circumstances, but don't. You are right where you need to be. And if you feel like you aren't, you will be. I promise.

I am here to tell the person reading this, you may be going through the hardest time in your life right now and you may be so confused and angry and I have one thing to say to you, my friend: life has so much to offer you and you have so much to offer life. We have the choice of making a difference in the world and choosing how we act in dire situations. You have the power to be the strong and courageous person you were meant to be. Do not be discouraged and do not base your bright future on how your life is going right now. God is so, so amazing and He has such an amazing plan for each and everyone's life and He has plans to prosper you an give you the best future possible. Always remember to count it all joy, because it is. Life is nothing but joy. Not all the time, but if you have a great perspective, and in any situation tell yourself that its going to be okay, it will be. I promise you. Count it all as joy because you deserve it. Count it all as joy because you owe it to yourself to live a happy and joyful life. That's all God has ever wanted for you. Its all He's ever wanted for everyone, for His children.

Do not give up. Never give up. Because you have time, there is still time. There is still time to heal, to restore, to declare your major in college, to forgive ones that wronged you, to move on, to do anything. You can, and you will. Tell yourself that you can do it. Right now. Out loud. Do it right now.

Oh look at that, you just said that you can do anything. And you know what, you will. Our feet may fail and fall short, but never EVER cease to count it all as joy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
