To My Freshman Floormates:
Well guys, we finally made it! These past eight months have flown by, and I cannot believe soon we won't be living next door to each other after this year. We made a lot of memories, a lot of laughter, and most importantly, I have created a bond with a few of you that I know will last throughout the rest of my time on this campus and afterwards.
On move-in day, I was told that the people you live with your freshman year will be the ones you never forget. I never thought that this group of strangers would mean so much to me in just 36 weeks! You all made my first year away from my family much easier, but there's a few of you that need a special thanking.
The friends I made on my floor are certainly ones I can never forget, and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for late night pizzas. Thank you for helping me procrastinate the most important of projects, and thank you for forcing me to sit down and work when I needed to finally get them done. Thank you for the group chat, the "family dinners" every single night, and midnight rounds of Mario Kart. Thank you for letting me vent when my family was driving me insane, even from miles away, and thank you for being a shoulder to cry on when I was convinced I failed my science class.
You all took this big and scary new world of college and made it feel like home. I looked forward to getting out of class every day and returning to our small hallway, because it meant I would get to be with my best friends for the rest of the day.
We learned a lot about each other over the past few months, and you know more about my life than a lot of people from my own hometown. I know that without you guys, my freshman year wouldn't have been nearly as fun as it was. We could sit up until all hours of the night together and just appreciate each other's presence, whether we were coloring or watching "Bob's Burgers," or finishing off the last bottle of whatever. You turned my dorm room into a bedroom, my hallway into a home, and my days into memories.
I usually don't open up to people easily, and it takes a little more to get to know me than others, but your friendship and patience turned me into a happy, bubbly member of our friend group, and I know the moment we all get into a room together at the end of the day, I won't stop laughing for hours. Thanks to all of your dumb jokes.
So yes, I will miss you all incredibly over the summer. I usually cannot go more than four hours without seeing you, let alone four months. However I know that we will hang out and make more memories as the months pass by, and I cannot wait to see what the next three years have in store for us. Thank you for making my freshman year everything I could've asked for and then some. Until the fall.
With so much love,
Another floormate
