A father is a lot of things, but one thing he doesn't have to be is biological.
Dear Dad,
What a blessing you have been to me. First and foremost thank you for adopting me. For loving me every day of my life for the last 20 years. Thank you for never letting me feel like an outsider or as if I was alone.
Dad’s have a lot of jobs. I’m not talking about the nine-to-five jobs they work. They are cheerleaders. Dad, thanks for being at every game, every recital, every concert I ever had. I cannot express the comfort I felt searching the crowd and finding your smiling face. They are superheroes. Riding my room of the vile monsters that made their home under my bed from ages three to nine.
He washed cuts, fixed bandages, and broken hearts. All those nights you came home beaten and tired from the stresses of the day but stayed the rock you are for Mom and I. A father's strength is unparalleled whether it be physical or emotional and mental strength.
You are a story teller, secret keeper, shoulder to cry on, arms to hold, hug, and protector.
Dad, thank you for always pushing me to do better and expect better for myself. You have always been a constant in my life and I have God to thank for that.
Dad, thank you for everything. The love and support and example you set. You have selflessly loved my mother for over 35 years and have set the standard for which I hold, and will continue to hold, all men in my life to.
Thank you for not being an anchor that holds me down or a sail that takes me on my way; rather you have been the lighthouse to help guide me on my journey.
A father and daughter have a special bond. You will always be my first love and my best friend. No matter where life takes me or how many miles apart we are, I know that will never change.
Happy Father's Day, Dad. Thank you.
