I'm writing this letter to you because you are more than just my college boyfriend. You are more than a serious relationship that will die off in a few years. You are more than the date I take to formal or the guy that I show off on my Instagram and Facebook with pride. Not only that but you are more than your GPA, that failed class, the broken bank, and the struggling Christian.
You. Are. Abundantly. More.
You are abundantly more because God created you to be my partner. God created you so that we could work together to grow in Him and through Him. The Lord knew that I would need someone taking the same business classes as I was so that I would actually get up and go to class. He knew that when I was struggling with that homework, that you'd already know the answers. The Lord knew this and he provided for the circumstances.
He knew that when I was weak that you would be strong in Him. He gave you the heart to love me when my heart was broken. He knew that when my depression had me tangled up into a knot that you would know the solution. He knew that when I began to gain too much weight, that you would be there to be my gym partner. The Lord knew all these things and he provided. He treasures this partnership. Our partnership.
The Lord has created you with such finite details in mind. He remembered the value of friendship and created all of us with the intention to fill that desire.
So next time you look at your GPA, don't let it be the number that defines you. Or that class you failed when you were an underclassman, it was just a small mistake. Or when you feel like your bank account just keeps getting smaller and smaller while your expenses are growing exponentially, remember that you have that partner. A partner to share that burden with. And if all else fails, and you both struggle in your faith, at least you'll be able to do it together. You'll be able to join together and decide to make that change. You'll each make that baby-step or sometimes a giant leap, but at the end you'll be able to pull your partner right up there with you. And it is then that your value is clear. That God built us to help each other.
