Dear best friend,
Not only have we been friends since middle school, but we have been the BEST of friends since middle school. The best part about starting our friendship in middle school was being able to experience the very awkward stages of being a middle schooler but also being able to watch each other grow up and mature more within each year. Although we both still have lots of growing up to do, being able to have still seen those major changes has been not only interesting but fun. We share secrets, stories and even an ex-boyfriend (Yikes!). No matter what either of us was going through, we were there for each other no matter what and the best part is that we are still that way.
Being away at college and you still being a senior in high school, I don’t see you very often and finding the time to come back home is always a difficult task but even if it has been days, weeks or months, every time we see each other, it is like no time has passed and we pick up right where we left off. To me, that is a sign of a very strong and healthy friendship. Making plans to have you come to me or vice versa doesn’t always work out and that is super tough but we always get through it no matter what and that is what I love about us. Our friendship is strong and proven to be unbreakable and I don’t have any doubts in that not continuing even after you also go to college.
I love being here at college and I know you’re enjoying (or trying to) the time you have back at home in high school with the friends you have there, but I am certainly counting down the days we have until summer because I can’t wait to enjoy that time I have with you before going back to school and before you finally start your journey at college. Last summer, our days and nights were full of fun activities and adventures, planned and unplanned and I can only imagine that our upcoming summer will be full of much more and us continuing to make the best memories that we can look back at and laugh at.
As my best friend, you have been there for bad break ups, failing tests (Sometimes not failing too), awkward situations, first dates and so much more and I couldn’t imagine going through all those experiences without having someone to talk to about them. Thank you for being my rock, my shoulder to cry on, the reason I laugh so hard that my ribs hurt, but most of all, thank you for being my best friend.
Love, your very best friend.
