In coming to college, I was scared, terrified even. My family had always told me I would find lifelong friends in college, but I had never believed them. I had always been a shy, timid student who had trouble making friends, but by chance, you came to me, and now it is my turn to thank you for keeping me grounded.
To my best friend:
Where do I begin? I had never thought I could connect with someone so quickly and so strongly. Within the first moments of meeting, I had bonded with you, and decided you were someone I want in my life for a long time. With both of us being new, and vulnerable to this new environment, I feel like we can lean on and support each other, as we are both confused, and both lost in this jumble we call college. I will do what I can to provide all you need. All I want is to help you. I want to help you through whatever hardships you endure, and I want to be there and celebrate your successes and achievements. You amaze me, and I know you will accomplish great things.
I know things seem uncertain sometimes. Things will get better. You sometimes take the weight of the world on your shoulders, and although I know that you can handle it, it can be difficult and overwhelming sometimes. You can do it, I know you can. I have the utmost faith in you. You will finish that artwork, you will be productive, you will get your degree, and you will achieve many great things in life. I believe in you. In everything you do, you never cease to amaze me. No matter what, whenever you need a little support, a shoulder to cry on, or a little pick-me-up, I will be here for you, because I know that that is exactly what you would do for me.
Finally, I want to say thank you. We have both been through a lot in the past few months, and I would be lost without your guidance, your upbeat attitude, and your sense of humor. You are one of the most reliable people I have ever met, even when I can't be for you. With every time I have done you wrong, with every mistake I have made, you have sincerely forgiven me, and I can't express my appreciation enough. It really meant a lot to me that you have been by my side through this scary, new journey, but I wouldn't want to go through this with anyone else. Truthfully, I am blessed to have you as a friend, and I hope this friendship lasts, not only throughout the rest of our college career, but throughout the rest of our lives as well. I love you.
