To my loved one in Heaven,
To start off, I miss you, everyone does. With everyone that you came in contact with, you left an imprint on their heart. The memories that were made with you throughout the years are unforgettable, and incredible; they can never be taken away from me. Even though I cry often about physically losing you, I smile when I realize you will always be with me in spirit.
Since the day I was born, to the day you left this earth, you made an impact on my life. It’s unbelievable to think of everything that has been celebrated since you have been gone. From my high school graduation, to our annual Fourth of July party, to sending me off to college, witnessing the birth of a new baby cousin, another cousin getting married and of course Thanksgiving and Christmas. All of the birthday celebrations, personal milestones and holidays are no longer the same now that you are gone.
Sundays were our family’s day to come together and celebrate life, but I feel like Sundays can never be viewed the same. Don’t get me wrong, all of the Sundays that were spent with you were my favorite, but now I wake up on Sundays and reminisce those days through tears of sadness and also, sometimes joy. I miss having the whole family sit in the same room, as you told stories of your childhood, and danced around like the happiest, most positive man living.
What I miss most about you physically being here with me, is the hugs, the laughs, the stories and the hand holding. As a little girl I never realized how special the little moments like those were. Being a young adult now, I realize how important saying “I love you” is, and to never take the small conversations, hugs or hand holds for granted. One of my fondest memories with you was holding your hand in your last few hours, even though we could no longer hold a conversation, and I couldn’t stop crying, I felt your strength, and I knew that you were not going to quit the battle that you had fought for so long.
Less than a year ago is when I last heard your contagious laugh, talked to you about boys, held your hand and danced on Sundays with you. It’s crazy to think that less than a year ago is when we lost you. Our family has a slight emptiness to it, and maybe as time goes on, that void may fill, but it is doubtful, and know that nobody can ever replace you. I would like to think that you are proud of the milestones I have made since the last day I told you myself. I know you are watching everything I do, and I just hope that I am making you proud.
Even though you can not physically be with me anymore, you are still my go-to person. I still look up to you, talk to you about boys and pray to you daily. Even on the cloudy days, you always find a way to bring me sunshine. I love you always, and will miss you forever.
Until next time,
Your loved one on Earth
