Dear Emily,
You may not be related to me by blood, but in our eyes you are my niece. I still can’t believe it has been a whole year since you first entered our lives. You have brought so much joy into my life, and I can’t even begin to explain that. It has been a blessing getting to watch you grow up, and now you are nearly 3 years old! I remember when I started babysitting you, and you didn’t really talk too well. I didn’t know back then that you would have such an impact on my life.
When I left to college it always broke my heart when you asked me to stay with you, and to not go away. Because there was nothing more that I wanted, and I hated going too long without seeing or talking to you. You have opened up my eyes, and taught me to see a more innocent and pure world. Which is exactly how you see it. Nothing is more fun than our park or ice cream dates, or when we go swimming in the pool. I even watching kid T.V. shows because I can spend time with you. Your wild imagination is so beautiful, and I absolutely adore it.
Thank you Emily for allowing me to be in your life, and let me influence you a little bit. It always makes me smile when I see you do something I taught you. You are going to grow up to be such an amazing person, I know it. And I want you to know that you will always be a part of my life. You and Harley mean so much to me! I hope when I have my own kids, they will be as fun as you two are! I also hope that my kids adore you as much as I adore you. You are an amazing big sister, and I know you love Harley so much!
I always hate having to get on you, because I have such a big heart. I am also not too good at getting on you, which you can tell. It always breaks my heart when you get in trouble, and you run up to me. Because as much as I want to pick you up and hold you, I know that I can’t. But that’s OK, because you have to learn from things. Trust me, we all do. I know I wasn’t exactly as easy kid!
I wish that nothing but good things come your way, and I can’t wait to watch you grow up some more. Never be afraid to ask your mommy to call me, and always know that I am here for you. I am one of your biggest supporters, and I will always be behind you! If there is ever a time where I am not around, know that my love for you is bigger than the sky. The short time I have been your aunt has been amazing! I always talk about you and Harley, because you two have such a huge space in my heart! The time I dropped you off at daycare and you told everyone I was your Aunt Danielle still makes me smile, and makes my heart well up. I am so proud to be your Aunt, and I will always be proud of you.
