Dear Mom,
I just want to start off with saying thank you, of course, you deserve more than a million thank you’s, but I just thought I would say that first.
Thank you for being selfless. You continuously put us before yourself and you never think twice about it. Thank you for constantly providing comfort and support even though I am no longer home for most of the time. I know that whenever I have a problem, whenever I have any sort of worry in the world, you will always be by my side providing love and advice as best as you can. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have such a reliable person as my mom.
Thank you for always texting me and asking me how I’m doing. College is crazy busy and although I don’t always have time to send a quick text, you always make sure to check up on me. I always smile when a text from you pops up on my phone because I know you are thinking of me, even when I am so far away. Thank you for always coming to visit me with arms full of treasures. I cannot tell you how exciting it is for a college student to receive bags of microwavable popcorn, Swedish Fish, and Fruity Pebbles. What can I say? The dining hall food is becoming unbearable.
Most importantly, thank you for immediately wrapping me in your arms whenever I am lucky enough to see you. Although I have made amazing friends here at school who provide me with lots of hugs, nothing beats a hug from Mom. I feel so comforted and protected when you wrap me up in your little arms, so thank you so much for that.
Thank you for supporting my decisions, even though they may not align with yours. I know you had hopes of me being a dentist or a doctor, but thank you for supporting my decisions to head down a different path. My hope is to someday make you so very proud. I hope that eventually I will become half the person you are because you are one of the most extraordinary people I know. You are forever caring, forever selfless, and forever reliable. I have never in my life met a Mom who works as hard as you do in order to give us the best life possible. If I become a mom one day, you will forever be my role model because there is not one person on this planet who is as hardworking and caring as you are, so thank you.
Lastly, thank you for being my friend. I’m not sure when exactly this happened, perhaps when I went to college, but now I consider you one of my best friends as well as my mom. I absolutely love spending time with you, going on lunch dates together, and talking about my day with you. Maybe this happens because I am getting older and beginning to realize that parents can be friends as well, and that is something amazing in itself. In the end, all I can truly say is thanks.
Thank you does not begin to describe the amount of gratitude, and love I have for you, but I want you to know that you truly are my hero. I hope to one day live up to the mom you have been to me. I hope to one day learn to be as strong, loving, and determined as you are. Thank you for being one of my very best friends, but most of all, thank you for being my mom. I love you very much, honey bunch.
Sincerely,
A forever grateful daughter
